Vision Statement

Heaven on Earth through Kingdom People

What is Heaven on Earth?

Imagine a place where every one of Jesus’ 9,000 promises are fulfilled – a place where the lame walk, the blind are healed, people are able to receive the good news, overcome their addictions and hindrances, and live in healthy, loving relationships. Jesus taught us to pray that His will would be done on earth, where kingdom people are reclaiming territory that used to be the enemy’s – not just in reclaiming nations, but lives, relationships, hearts, and emotions.

Who are Kingdom People?

Kingdom people are confident in their identity in Christ and know God as their Father. They have an intimate relationship with God as a son or daughter, and they know that it’s about being rather than doing. They are humble, authentic, faithful and kingdom-minded. They are a part of a loving community that is diverse and continuously growing. They trust the Holy Spirit and walk out in freedom to fulfill their God-given life destiny.

The Core Values of HIC

Our foundation is firmly rooted in Christ, in the daily revelation of Jesus through the Word. We are a biblically-based church that loves to worship God, and are unique in how we express God’s love to the world. Our core values make us who we are. Through our core values we are able to stay the course and remain true to ourselves not matter what obstacles and circumstances we face.

Authenticity

Being real and vulnerable before God and people
The freedom to be ourselves in any environment, whether it’s at home, at work or at church, is a hallmark of HIC. We know that we all have weaknesses and issues, but it is not something to hide and cover up. We do not need to put on a mask to fool people into thinking that we are perfect or that we don’t have struggles. When we are honest with ourselves and with one another, we can have meaningful relationships and begin to walk out in freedom.

Humility

No competition, no jealousy, no selfish ambition
When Jesus lowered himself to become man, He gave us the ultimate example of humility. His incarnate love inspires us to forfeit titles, positions, and our own ambitions for a kingdom-mindset. We relate to one another and serve one another in the lifestyle of incarnation. Because humility allows us to set aside our own agendas and desires to serve one another, we know that the humble servant makes the best leader, not the most talented or gifted person.

Kingdom-Mindset

Focusing on building God’s kingdom rather than our own
The harvest is an enormous, bountiful field that is open to us as harvest workers. Because we are not limited to a small mind or heart, we don’t see other churches as competitors, but rather as co-laborers. We need and network with likeminded churches and organizations to accomplish kingdom purposes in our community and the world. We are not driven by numbers or territorialism, but welcome and support other ministries in order to build God’s kingdom rather than our own.

Obedience to the Holy Spirit

Leaning on the Holy Spirit, not on our own understanding
Throughout history, people didn’t always understand everything God was doing. Rather, He asks us to trust Him and lean on Him rather than our own experiences and mindsets. We trust the Holy Spirit when He touches somebody even when we don’t understand what is happening. Because of that, we do not criticize what God is doing but are open to His working in us. We value the Holy Spirit more than respectability.

Walking in Freedom

Breaking bondages and living in wholeness
When we confront our issues instead of ignoring them or running from them, we are able to walk in freedom. By dealing with our past, we can overcome anything that hinders and entangles us in the present. We know that wholeness is not a one-day process, but a daily process that deals with the spiritual realm we cannot see. And when we know who we are in Christ and the Father’s heart, we are set free from the orphan spirit and are able to belong to a loving community.

Growing in Faith

Freedom to pioneer new endeavors without fear of failure
Faith calls us to take risks. It means that we move beyond our mindsets and experiences in order to grow in the Lord on a daily basis. We proactively and continuously learn and move in Him, and are not satisfied with stagnation in our spiritual lives. We hunger for more and because of that we don’t want the traditional for the sake of the traditional, but desire to capture the new wine in the new wine skin.

Loving Community

Living life together away from isolation
Relationships are not limited to Sundays but involve every day of the week in every stage of life – from being single to married and having children. Our community is not defined by function, but, above all, by friendship that goes beyond the walls of the church. We know that strong relationships are formed best in a small group where reconciliation, healing, humility and forgiveness are practiced. Here people can share weaknesses, and be transparent and vulnerable with one another.

Diversity

Breaking barriers across cultures, gifts and generations
When HIC was married, it signified not only the union of bringing two churches together to become one, but of diversity in every way imaginable coming together in an enduring relationship. The differences that separate people in the world – language, generation, culture, personality – we embrace as a blessing and believe that it brings us closer to heaven. We break down barriers and resolve conflict to bring different personalities, interests, backgrounds, languages, cultures, generations and gifting into one body.

Discovering Purpose

Developing members to fulfill their God-given life destiny
Exploring God’s dream for our lives is an exciting journey. We know that everyone has a God-given dream, not just a desire to chase individual ambitions and purposes that lead to disappointment. There is freedom to discover and pursue God’s dream with a loving community of kingdom-minded people. When we discover our purpose we are able to inspire others with a clear vision that is birthed inside us, and then we are able to reach the world.
